Abstract

An adjustable length rigging screw, especially for use on sailing yachts, comprises three inter-engaging threaded parts (1, 2, 3) having substantially the same largest cross- section, which is non-circular, and a locking and covering tube (5) having substantially the same inner cross-section as said largest cross- section and a smooth outer surface. The tube is adapted to slide along a rigging wire or rod (6) attached to the rigging screw so as to cover the parts (1, 2, 3) completely, locking the parts in a fixed position. The tube obviates the use of cotter pins or similar means for keeping clevis pins in place. A preferred rigging screw has a substantially tubular intermediate part with internal and external threads running in opposite directions and end parts which engage therewith. <IMAGE>
