Abstract

A fire retardant structure having improved resistance to exposure to flame and heat and comprising a stratum of fire unstable material, at least one surface of said stratum having applied thereto a surface coating of a fire retardant composition, and said surface also having hollow portions, such as grooves, at spaced intervals with fire retardant composition disposed in said hollow portions.
