Abstract

The method is for detecting whether query video data appears in a reference video. It comprises determining a measure of depth from a portion of the query video data, comparing the measure against a measure of depth for the reference video and, if a match is determined; comparing a visual signature derived from the query video data against a visual signature of the reference video; and hence to determine a measure representing the likelihood that the query video data derives from the reference video. The measure of depth could be derived from the content of a 3D video. The method could be applied to multiple frames, which may represent different views of the reference video. The method is likely to find application in detecting the copying of videos, i.e. in the field of anti-piracy for videos.
