Abstract
A shelving unit 1 comprises an elongate shelf means 2, with a back support 3 extending generally upwardly in use from adjacent an edge of the shelf, and at least one shelf end plate 6 extending generally upwardly from adjacent an end of the shelf means, the back support being connected to the/each shelf end plate by tab means (10, Fig 3) located engagingly within socket means 9. The tab means may extend from a respective end of the back support and be received in co-operating apertures extending through the shelf end plate, having an interference fit within the socket means. The shelving unit may comprise a single body wherein the back support means may be linked to the shelf by an elongate rear fold zone and the/each shelf end plate is linked to the shelf by a respective side fold zone. The invention further provides a method of producing the shelving unit, comprising the steps of forming a blank from a laminar material, forming the blank to form an elongate shelf means and a back support extending transversely there from as well as one or more shelf end plate means extending perpendicularly from a respective end of the back support means with tab means extending from said end of the back support means received engagingly within co-operating socket means formed in the/each shelf end plate.
