Abstract
A temperature gauge including a thermocouple capable of emitting an electromotive force which varies with temperature over the nominal operating range of the gauge. Thermally conductive structure 6 is provided for transmitting thermal energy between an object of which the temperature is to be measured and the sensing junction of the thermocouple and comprises a body 14 of a calibrating material which undergoes a phase transition, such as melting or solidifying, or a change in lattice parameters in the solid state, at a fixed temperature in the operating range of the gauge. <IMAGE>
