Abstract

A radio receiver system for delivering rich-media content associated with a broadcast radio signal, having at least an audio stream, comprises: an antenna interface coupled to antenna 104, receiving a broadcast radio signal; a receiver unit (chipset) 102 having an input coupled to the antenna interface output, the receiver unit extracting an audio stream from the broadcast radio signal and generating a data (additional information) stream from the received broadcast radio signal, and outputting 110 the audio stream and data stream; a data interface 116 having an input coupled 110 to the receiver unit output, and an output for outputting the data stream generated from the received broadcast radio signal; and a removable display 112 coupleable to the data interface 116. Removable, detachable display 112, when coupled to data interface 116, accesses rich-media content stored on a content server 128 in response to the received data stream, the content being associated with the broadcast radio signal; the removable display displays the rich-media content (concurrently with radio, audio output). The internet-enabled display device 112 may be a smartphone, laptop, tablet computer or Internet-enabled TV.
