Abstract

An adjustable hinge 2 includes mechanism 20, 22 and 24 for adjustments in three dimensions - vertical, compression and lateral. When the hinge 2 is mounted between a door and a door frame, the lateral adjustment mechanism 24 cooperating with the compression adjustment mechanism 22 to compensate for arcuate pivoting movements of the hinge 2 which normally occur with lateral adjustment such that the resultant lateral adjustment movements of the hinge 2 are substantially linear (see Figures 19-21). A tongue 14 is mounted to a female leaf 4 and enters a housing 27 on male leaf 6, the tongue having a series of holes to receive the adjustment mechanisms 24a, 53, 109. Figures 11-14 show the vertical adjustment mechanism which includes a dial 66 and a cam (76 Fig 12). Two adjustment mechanisms are provided so the door can be hung left handed or right handed. Figures 15-18 show the compression adjustment mechanism which includes an eccentric peg (104 Fig 16) moving in an elongate vertical aperture 106.
