Abstract

A tyre comprises, in at least part of the surface area defined by a shoulder buttress portion and a sidewall, a relief pattern formed in a single colour elastomeric material which pattern is less than 2mm in depth and has facets 1,2 formed to lie in the range of 10 DEG to 80 DEG from the normal to the tyre surface. The specification also refers to a method of, and a mould for, manufacturing said tyre. The pattern may include a plurality of V- or concave-section grooves or a plurality of convex-section ribs. The pattern increases the surface area of the tyre and thus assists in its cooling and further the depth restriction is stated to avoid the initiation of cracks by the pattern when the tyre is in use. <IMAGE>
