Abstract

A circuit arrangement for abbreviated dialling in an automatic telephone system in which the calling number for setting up a connection is generated by selecting a number of digits lower than the number of digits in the calling number includes a first memory (MA1) in which the calling digits coming from a subscriber's telephone set are stored and time measuring means (TM) which measures the length of an incoming digit. If the length of a digit is greater than a predetermined value the time measuring means generates a signal characterizing the digit as an abbreviated @ss 2010626@dialling digit. A second memory (MB) in the arrangement stores calling numbers at addresses corresponding to calling subscribers' telephone sets' numbers and abbreviated @ss 2010626@dialling digits. Writing into and reading out from respectively the second memory is carried out by means of a decoder (KO) which, on the basis of the signal representing the abbreviated @ss 2010626@dialling digit and on the basis of information about the identity of the calling subscriber's telephone set, addresses the second memory for writing and reading out respectively. <IMAGE>
