Abstract

An imaging method comprises obtaining a reference mapping for mapping at least one reference position on an array of sensors to at least one position on a display, determining the motion of the array of sensors and determining, in dependence on the determined motion, a further mapping. The further mapping transforms at least one position on the array of sensors to at least one position on the display such that an image generated on the display from the image data is generated in a position on the display such as to at least partially compensate for the measured motion. The difference between the further mapping and the reference mapping is determined and the further mapping adjusted to reduce the determined difference. The method can be used to compensate for the movement of imaging devices mounted on moving platforms such as aircraft and other vehicles.
