Abstract

A method for autographing includes displaying a media item 48, for example an e-book, on a media display device 22. The media display device receives an input from a person 24 associated with creation of the media item and, based on the input, transmits a message to a server 30 for authentication. Responsively to the authentication by the server, the media display device receives an electronic autograph 50 of the person for display together with the media item. The media device can comprise a touch sensitive interface, while the electronic autograph can comprise a file containing an image of a manual autograph, an image, video clip, audio file associated with the person, and promotional content. The input, for example a manual signature written with a stylus, can be authenticated by comparing the image of the signature to a stored autograph of the person or can comprise a digital authentication code from a personal identification device of the person. Another embodiment discloses a stylus for writing to a touch-sensitive device with associated memory containing digital identification code, and communication interface to transmit said code to the media display device.
