Abstract

An electrical heating element and support assembly comprises a tubular support 1 having slots 2 and a heating element 3 wound onto the support so that successive portions are supported on the exterior of the support and protrude through the slots into the interior of the support. The assembly can be used in a hair dryer and allows a fan motor to be housed within the support enabling the dryer to be made more compact. In an alternative embodiment the support comprises a pair of triangular end frames (10) having their corresponding sides interconnected by planar support members (11, 12, 13) between which longitudinal openings 14 are formed, and the heating element (15) follows the shape of a regular hexagon. <IMAGE>
