Abstract

The apparatus, e.g. for reheat in a jet propulsion engine, comprises a flame tube 2 disposed in a casing 1, the wall of flame tube 2 being formed by a succession of annular corrugations each comprising a first frusto-conical part 4 divergent in the downstream direction, and a second, longer, frusto-conical part 5 convergent in the downstream direction connected to the preceding part 4. The latter has a large number of small perforations for the introduction of cooling air. Flame tube 2 may be manufactured by rolling a sheet, the perforations being effected by electronic bombardment, and the corrugations being impressed finally by a corrugated roller. <IMAGE>
