Abstract
The compositions, which are based on an aqueous solution, emulsion or dispersion of a film- forming agent stable in aqueous- acidic media and which optionally contain conventional additives, are characterized by containing 0.1 to 5% by weight, calculated on the film- forming agent, of an acid phosphate of the formula (I), <IMAGE> wherein R1 stands for a group of the formula CH2-OR4 or CH2-OOCR4 (wherein R4 is an optionally substituted aliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic group), or R1 has the same meaning as R4, R2 stands for hydrogen or an aliphatic group, and R3 stands for hydrogen or a group of the formula <IMAGE> (wherein R2 and R4 are as defined above). The compositions form thick deposits quickly on metal surface without coagulation, flocculation or gelling of the film-forming agent (due to hitherto undesired build-up of metal ions around the metal surface).
