Abstract

The present invention is concerned with separating, without damage when using the mower of a crop harvester, stalks to be mown from adjacent stalks not being mown, the mower comprising crop pick-up apparatus 4 forwardly of the mower apparatus 3 and having pick-up claws for raising and transferring rearwardly and upwardly the planted stalks within the mowing width; and a stalk-divider 8 located laterally of the pick-up apparatus and having claws 8B for separating planted stalks to either side by movement of the claws rearwardly and upwardly and wherein the improvement to avoid damage comprises providing the claws 8B with a sweepback angle ( theta ) with respect to the direction of movement thereof so that the tip end portion of each claw is located rearwardly of its base portion. <IMAGE>
