Abstract

The device initially inserts a square bar 7, disposed along the rolling and drilling axis A of the mill, into the mill using a first ram (20) having a direction of action (R1). A second thrust means (14) having a direction of action (R) is moved into position and then thrusts the bar (7) at a speed set for rolling and simultaneously drilling the bar (7) in the mill. An actuator (34) can simultaneously move the first and second rams for selectively aligning either ram with the mill axis. The two rams can be mounted on a support pivotable at one end or on a support slidable transversely of the axis. <IMAGE>
