Abstract

Liquid to be treated, e.g. gelatin solution, is drawn via 16 into a low pressure region 4 and gas e.g. air is introduced at the same time via 18. The injection of gas increases the surface area between the gas and liquid phases to allow the rapid diffusion of gas from the liquid. This produces a rapid reduction of dissolved gas content and results in foam formation. The foam is broken down and other gas/liquid mixture separated by centrifuging in drum 28 after passing via conduit 20, separated air leaving via pipe 10, and separated liquid flowing via ports 38 to be pumped out at conduit 46 by rotors 34 and 36. <IMAGE>
