Abstract

An anchor unit comprises an elongate member 1, preferably a hollow box member 2 of rectangular cross-section with a pair of plates 3 welded to the ends of the member 2 (see Fig. 1). The bottom and top part 4 and 5 of the elongate member 1 are each provided with a series of holes 6 and 7 respectively which holes define a series of staggered passages for pins 8 for fixing the unit to the ground. The plates 3 have an aperture 9 formed therein and are mounted obliquely with respect to the axis of the box member 2 so as to allow a plurality of units to be used together to form a ground anchor of increased strength and which spreads the load over a larger area of ground. The apertures 6 and 7 are offered so that the pins go into the ground in forced directions preferably alternating from side to side of the member 2. The members may be metal or plastics. <IMAGE>
