Abstract

A method and apparatus for unloading containers of rod-like articles in which trays (10) which may contain cigarettes or the like are moved in succession past a transfer position at which they are unloaded for delivery of a stack (24) to further equipment. The trays (10) have central slots in their end walls to allow passage of an escalator band (54) which delivers articles upwardly from the passing trays to the stack conveyors (44, 46). The apparatus may be operated in reverse to fill successive trays from the stack (24). <IMAGE>
