Abstract

Fibrous material to be formed into a web is commonly conveyed by conveyor belts or pneumatic means but such methods of conveying are susceptible to breakdown and do not allow for more extensive treatment of the fibrous material. In a method of this invention the material is conveyed by feeding the material onto a table 3 and shaking the table to cause the material to move relative to the table. Apertures 4 may be provided in the table to allow separation of waste from the fibrous material: heavy waste falls through the apertures while light waste such as dust is carried upwards by air blown upwards through the apertures. <IMAGE>
