Abstract
An ozone generator comprises a cylindrical earthed conduit forming one electrode surrounding a coaxial metal wire 4 forming the other electrode which is connected to the positive pole of a d.c. supply (e.g. fully or partially smoothed rectified a.c.), the wire 4 being provided with at least one pointed tooth or vane 20 projecting from its surface. The pointed projection(s) may be a triangular section continuous or discontinuous helical vane 20 or a rectilinear vane. Alternatively discrete conical projections may be provided on the wire, which may be formed from a flat section twisted into a helix. In one embodiment, the apex of the projection(s) is rounded, but its radius of curvature is much smaller than the radius of curvature of the remainder of the projection. <IMAGE>
