Abstract

An electronic timepiece having an intermittent drive means for rotating the second hand step by step, in which the second hand may be driven in two or more ways, one of which uses large steps such as one step per second and the other uses small steps such as ten steps per second. There are provided circuitry for producing pulses at the two rates, a transducer for converting the pulses into rotating motion, a large step transmitting means, a small step transmitting means, and means for changing the pulse rate applied to the transducer and for correspondingly changing over the transmitting means. In the chronograph shown, a stepping motor 8 normally receives 1 Hz pulses and its pinion 55a drives a seconds wheel 12 via idler 56 and a gear 60, 60a. Pulling out stem 7 changes the pulse rate to 10 Hz and brings idler 56 out of mesh with 60 and into mesh with an idler 70, thus introducing an additional gear 59, 59a into the train. <IMAGE>
