Abstract

Demulsification of a water-in-oil, especially a water-in-crude oil, emulsion is effected by contacting it with a polyester obtained by condensation of a C9-18 alk(en)yl succinic anhydride, a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol of mol. wt. less than 500, and a polyhydric alcohol having three or more OH groups and which can have been neutralised with an ethanolamine.
