Abstract
A method and apparatus for impelling water are disclosed in which gas is supplied under pressure through a nozzle 21 into a combustion chamber 1 having an automatic self-closing inlet valve 13 and a platinum-wire glow-plug 24. On ignition the pressure in the chamber 1 drives water out through a water passage 9, 10 subsequently this moving mass of water draws in a in further charge of air through the valve 13 and further water enters though a non-return flap valve 7. <IMAGE>
