Abstract
Prostaglandin analogues of the general formula:- <IMAGE> [wherein Y represents ethylene or trans-vinylene, R<1> represents hydrogen or alkyl, R<2> represents hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R<3> represents a single bond or C1-4 alkylene, R<4> represents hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl optionally substituted by at least one alkyl, or represents a phenyl or phenoxy group optionally substituted by at least one chlorine atom, trifluoromethyl or alkyl, and the double bond between C5-C6 is Z] and cyclodextrin clathrates of such acids and esters and, when R<1> represents a hydrogen atom, non-toxic salts thereof, with the exclusion of thiaprostacyclin and its methyl ester, are new compounds possessing characteristic prostaglandin-like activity.
