Abstract

An electric induction motor rotor comprises a ring 11 of ceramic magnetic or magnetisable material, carried by a rotor shaft 10 at a hub 12 which has been injection moulded into position between the ring 11 and shaft 10. To avoid bursting of the ring 11 under the injection pressure or thermal stress, it is either injection moulded from a plastics structural form e.g. of A.B.S., which foams in the injection die against the ring, Fig. 1, or from plastics or low melting metal alloy within a tubular member 114, Fig. 3, which is located around the inner periphery of the ring 11. The tubular member is preferably resilient and comprises either a tube formed by bending and overlapping the ends of a corrugated spring steel strip, or comprises a close coil tubular spring. The injected hub may comprise radial spokes. <IMAGE>
