Abstract

The present invention relates to a process of removing soil and/or stains from fabrics by immersing the fabrics in a peroxygen bleach bath containing as a peroxygen activator a sulfonic anhydride of the formula R<1>SO2-O-SO<2>R<2> wherein each of R<1> and R<2> which may be alike or different, is a radical selected from an alkyl radical; a cycloalkyl radical; and an aromatic ring system as herein defined, or R<1> and R<2> taken together may complete an organic group. It also relates to bleaching compositions and detergent compositions containing said sulfonic anhydrides.
