Abstract

A compressor having spaces 10, 14 in which liquid e.g. oil, can accumulate during compressor standstill is provided with passages 15, 16, 17 for draining the liquid from said spaces into a reservoir 6. The passages 15, 16, 17 are controlled by valves e.g. check valves, arranged to close automatically due to increased gas pressure in the reservoir 6 when the compressor is in operation. The compressor may be a rotary one of the sliding-vane type (as shown). <IMAGE>
