Abstract
In a device for straightening distortions in the weft threads of a woven web, or in the courses of a knitted web immediately prior to the web entering a tenter frame for example, the web 10 travels in contact with an arched rod 20 which extends across the web and is pivotally carried by two vertically pivotal arms 15. In use, in order to straighten weft threads or courses, and dependent upon the nature of the distortions, the rod 20 is swung downwards relative to the arms so as to engage the web intermediate its edges and to deflect the web downwards, (Fig. 1b), or the arms are moved downwards to engage only end portions of the rod with the web, (Fig. 1c), or only one arm is swung downwards, (Fig. 1d). In a modification, two arched rods 20 are provided and are movable in parallel and synchronously, the web 10 running between the rods, (Fig. 3). Any distortions may be measured optically by apparatus 18. <IMAGE>
