Abstract

Return and collection process in a coin-operated telephone with indirect collection in telephone networks with automatic charge calculation provides that, after each received fee pulse, the sum of money to be refunded to the caller is calculated from his credit and said sum is refunded at the end of the telephone conversation in the smallest possible number of higher-value coins and the largest possible number of low-value coins. A microprocessor (P) calculates the amount to be refunded, taking into account the surplus credit, by means of data stored in a storage unit (17), concerning the content of coin storage passages (18, 19 and 20) and by means of return and collection units (21 and 22 respectively), and decides how many coins of particular values are to be refunded and how many coins are to be collected. <IMAGE>
