Abstract

The invention relates to apparatus for compensating for variations in the zero level of detecting systems used in computed tomography. The apparatus described has, mounted on a rotatable table 10, an X-ray source 17 and an array 18 of detecting elements adapted to be exposed to X-rays from the X-ray source, said elements being each associated with a pre- amplifier 21 and an integrator 22, and further has means to carry out, for each angle or turn, as measured by angle generator 29, covered by the X-ray source and the detecting elements, separate individual memorising of the inherent offset voltages (zero levels) of respective systems (each comprising a detector element, pre-amplifier and integrator during periods when X-rays are not emitted by source 17 and thereafter causing emission of X-rays toward the arrayed detecting systems and then carrying out subtraction of the memorised offset voltages from the outputs of the respective detecting systems exposed to X-rays. <IMAGE>
