Abstract

A process for the co-production of benzoyl halides and meta- halosulfonyl benzoyl halides in high yields and with control over the relative amounts of the two products formed, comprises reacting a benotrihalide which is substituted by hydrogen at at least one meta position with a sulfonating agent selected from sulfuric acid and oleum.
