Abstract

The invention relates to multi- speed sprockets suitable for bicycles. In known multi-speed sprockets meshing of the chain with sprockets when gear changing suffers from interference between the chain and the sides of the sprockets. There is now provided a multi- speed sprocket comprising at least one smaller diameter (2) sprocket and at least one larger diameter sprocket (1) with chain receiving portions (12) at intervals of two or more teeth (11) on the larger sprocket (1). The chain receiving portions (12) extend radially towards the centre of the sprocket (1) for receiving the chain (6) during switching thereof from the smaller (2) to the larger diameter sprocket (1) to facilitate subsequent meshing thereof. <IMAGE>
