Abstract

A composite tube 3 is made up of an inner sleeve 4 of metal and an outer sleeve 5 of distended elastic-memory material, chosen so that the metal softens (without completely melting) and is deformed when the tube 3 is heated to the recovery temperature of the outer sleeve 5. In terminating an electric cable 6, the composite tube 3 is shrunk so that one end grips a sheathing layer of the cable and the other end an inserted contact member 2. <IMAGE>
