Abstract

A coupling between two sections of hollow shafting 15a and 15b comprises two sleeves 19 and 20. One is placed with clearance around the adjacent ends of the aligned shafting sections, the other is placed with clearance inside the aligned ends. The ends of the clearance spaces 23 and 24 are closed with inflatable sealing rings 22 and the spaces are then filled with layers of carborundum-filled epoxy resin composition which is set under a pressure of 500 to 1000 p.s.i. The coupling may also be used for joining a flanged sleeve 161 to the shafting. <IMAGE>
