Abstract

A store for rod-shaped articles comprises a charging station (27), a discharging station (23), a conveyor (1) to convey the articles to the charging station (27), a conveyor (2) to convey the articles from the discharging station (23), containers (3) for the articles, and devices to circulate the containers between the charging station (27) articles and the discharging station (23). Each conveyor (1, 2) supports the articles by an axially inner portion thereof and extends into one container at a time. Each container (3) is open upwardly, downwardly and at one side for passage thereinto of each conveyor (1, 2) and is arranged to support each article by axially outer portions thereof in horizontal rows. The devices comprise first elements (13, 14) to move each container (3) upwards through the charging station by increments corresponding to the vertical distance between each horizontal row to charge each container and second elements (15, 21) to move each container (3) downwards through the discharging station (27) by the same increments to discharge each container (3). <IMAGE>
