Abstract

An installation for the peripheral machining of a railway wheel includes a plurality of vertical turning machines (6, 7, 10, 11) which are arranged in pairs and the machines of each pair are each provided with a loading and unloading device (8, 9, 13, 14), a longitudinal conveyor (5) passing between machines of each pair. Even if one machine is inoperable, the installation provides for continued machining. <IMAGE>
