Abstract

A cargo restraint apparatus for installation in a container comprises a flexible restraining member, for example, a belt 4, and an anchoring system for attachment to at least two walls of the container having means for adjusting the effective length of the restraining member 4 and raising and lowering the ends of said effective length to facilitate the restraining member to conform to the contours of the cargo. Each anchoring system comprises an endless belt 18, 20 movable within a channel sectioned bar 6, 8 and to which a respective end of the belt 4 is stitched. Adjustment is effected by moving a further belt 22, 30 fixed to the endless belt and accessible through a hole in the outer wall of the container, means 38, 40 being provided to lock the belts 22, 30 as required. <IMAGE>
