Abstract

A cyclone separator has a tangential inlet 19 for unseparated material, and outlets 11, 14 for heavier and lighter fractions. The lighter fraction outlet 14 is followed by a throttle valve 17 which can be a diaphragm operated pinch valve for varying back pressure on the outlet. In one embodiment the cyclone is horizontal and the throttle valve discharges into a header box 16 and the heavier fraction into a vertical drum 12. In the second embodiment the cyclone is vertical and no header box is provided. <IMAGE>
