Abstract

A ferrochrome alloy, includes, as essential constituents, 18 to 30 percent by weight chromium, 0,6 to 3 percent by weight carbon and 0,5 to 10 percent by weight silicon, the balance being iron. The invention also provides a method of improving the magnetic properties of such an alloy by heat treating the alloy at a temperature of 550 to 1000 DEG C for a time sufficient to produce the desired result.
