Abstract

A stop valve has a one-piece valve body 50 which defines a valve seat 11, a passage 12 leading from a fluid inlet 13 to the valve seat 11, a tubular extension 14 for insertion through the wall of a fluid conduit, and a saddle 15 for securing the valve body 50 to the fluid conduit. A valve mechanism 20 controls the flow of fluid through the valve seat 11 to a fluid outlet 24 defined by a separate body 52 located over a cylindrical extension 17 of the valve body. The valve mechanism 20 is supported by threads 18 from the cylindrical extension 17 and additionally locates the body 52 with the fluid outlet 24 in a selected direction whilst loading the sealing washers 56 and 57. <IMAGE>
