Abstract

A hydraulic system for motor vehicles consists in a first consumer (9), in the form of a servo-assisted steering system, a second consumer (11), e.g. a lifting mechanism, pressure fluid reservoir (2), and a servo pump (1) common to both consumers supplying pressure fluid to both consumers through a flow divider valve (7). The consumer has priority over the second consumer. A switch-off valve (8) downstream of the flow divider valve has two positions. In the first position controlled by a spring (21), both consumers are connected to the pump and in the second position controlled by the level of fluid in the reservoir by a level switch (23), the first consumer is connected to the pump and the second consumer is isolated therefrom. <IMAGE>
