Abstract

A rotor disc 13 which is adapted to carry blades 12 has a plurality of angularly spaced apart rectilinear retaining slots 18 cut in its periphery 19 at an angle to the disc axis. In order to reduce the parasitic weight, the surface contour of the disc periphery is made to approximate to the surface of revolution, which is concave in axial section, which is produced by rotating one of the straight lines 21 forming the outer edge of each said slot about the disc axis. <IMAGE>
