Abstract
An aerosol comprising a solution (as the disperse phase) consisting of a solvent and salts of metals, the oxides of which metals form the desired ferrite, is sprayed onto a heated substrate. If necessary, the deposited layer is heated so that the cobalt ferrite has a spinel crystal structure. A preferred ferrite has composition CoxFe3-xO4 wherein 0.3 < x < 1.5
