Abstract

A spring safety hook, used for securing ropes, cables, etc., has a spring- loaded bolt (3) to close the mouth (1'') of the hook, a thumb-catch (3') on the bolt, a latching mechanism (8) which automatically engages to hold the bolt fast in its closed position, and a trigger (12) which can be actuated by the palm of the hand or index finger to disengage the latching mechanism. The bolt cannot therefore be retracted unintentionally or accidentally and the hook can be opened with just one hand. The trigger is preferably a pivotable lever (12) which projects from the hook body (1') on the side opposite to the thumb-catch (3'). <IMAGE>
