Abstract

A conveyor belt (10) is composed of elastomeric material (14) reinforced at least in part by transversely spaced, longitudinally extending, parallel cables (30, 32, 34) of high modulus material designed to provide variable spacing of cables widthwise of the belt. The edge or marginal zones (A) of the belt each contain a series of more closely and equally spaced cables (30, 32) than the equally spaced cables (34) contained in the portion (b) of the belt between the margins (A). The belt is further reinforced with upper and lower layers of fabric material (20, 24). <IMAGE>
