Abstract
Articles of ferrous alloys containing carbon are coated to improve their resistance and smoothness. They are dipped in a molten bath comprising boric acid or a borate, an oxide of a Group Va metal or chromium, and a Group Va metal or chromium (other than the metal forming the oxide).
