Abstract

Diesters having the formula <IMAGE> wherein Y is an alkylene, arylene or cycloalkylene radial having up to 10 carbon atoms are prepared by the reaction of hydroxy- pivalyl hydroxy- pivalate with dicarboxylic acids or the anhydrides or esters thereof. These diesters are used in the preparation of high solids coating compositions by reaction with an hydroxyl cross linking agent.
