Abstract

A keyboard arrangement for a typewriter has keys for operation by each thumb as well as keys for operation by the fingers. One thumb operates the spacing key and the other thumb operates the key for the letter E. It is a preferably feature that any two vowel finger keys are not located adjacent one another in a row or a column and that any two finger vowel keys are not located so as to be operated by corresponding fingers of the two hands in the same position. It is another preferable feature that the characters shown on the finger keys are different from the standard qwerty keyboard and that the characters printed by the finger keys can be selected between those shown on the keys and those shown on corresponding keys of the standard qwerty keyboard. <IMAGE>
