Abstract
209,821. Hilton, J. B., and Charles, C. A. Oct. 17, 1922. Actuating-mechanism.-A valve device adapted to close automatically in the event of an accident or collision and particularly applicable for use on the liquid fuel tanks used on aircraft, motor driven launches, or vehicles comprises a lift valve normally held open by a glass ball against the action of a spring. The device is housed in a casing a screwed into a socket b fastened to the wall of the tank and is provided with a lift valve member c loaded by a spring h and guided by spindles engaging a perforated partition a<3> and a detachable cap f. The valve is normally held away from its seat by a glass ball g adapted to break on impact and supported by a perforated carrier d' secured in position by a screwed cap e which also carries the outlet connection. The inlet is provided in the case of gravity feed arrangements through apertures a<3> and in the case of pressure feed arrangement through holes in the cap f.
